Manual transmission very hard to shift from one gear to another?

It depends on the engine size...
2.5L = MOPAR ATF PLUS (Automatic Transmission Fluid - Type 7176)

4.0L = MOPAR Automatic Transmission Fluid (P/N 4773590) or equivalent labeled DEXRON III MERCRON fluid.

The problem noticed on 1995 Jeep Cherokee. The clutch pedal has always been a bit sloppy (even after an adjustment) and there has been no change there, just in the effort it is now taking to shift from one gear to the other.

Very difficult to get into reverse and it does grind considerably.

With slop in the pedal says hydraulic failure, either the master or slave has failed and is letting fluid by the piston.Recommend that both be replaced. This is why it is difficult to shift, the clutch is not totally releasing.

This details will help.Thanks.
