Car will not move when in gear?

The shift linkage is not connected to the manual valve in the valve body. Or there is no oil pressure.When we were adjusting the linkage again we realize it is having a VERY hard time locking into place. It will bounce around gear it wont stick. Dropped the pan to find the gear locking mech is broken. Since the OTHER tranny is good for gear linkage we are going to rip it off of that one.
