REMOVAL & INSTALLATION instructions are as follows :----
- Index-mark both driveshaft flanges.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
- Remove the muffler and tailpipe.
- Remove the 4 exhaust support brace bolts and the exhaust brace.
CAUTIONDo not reuse the bolt and washer assemblies for the rear constant velocity (CV) joint flange. Install new assemblies or damage to the vehicle may occur. - Remove and discard the 3 CV joint flange bolt and washer assemblies.
- Separate the driveshaft CV flange from the rear drive unit flange using a flat blade screwdriver.
CAUTIONDo not reuse the constant velocity (CV) joint bolts. Install new bolts or damage to the vehicle may occur. - Remove and discard the 4 driveshaft-to-transfer case bolts.
- Using a suitable prybar, separate the driveshaft flange from the PTU flange.
- With the help of an assistant, remove the 2 center bearing bracket bolts and the driveshaft.
- If necessary, remove the 2 center bearing bolts and remove the bracket.
NOTEIf a driveshaft is installed and driveshaft vibration is encountered after installation, index the driveshaft. - To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Tighten the 2 center bearing bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
- Tighten the 2 center bearing bracket bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
- Tighten the 4 driveshaft-to-transfer case bolts to 52 ft. lbs. (70 Nm)
- Tighten the 3 CV joint flange bolt and washer assemblies to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Tighten the 4 exhaust support brace bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
