The Compressor replacing details are as follows:----
Removal & Installation is for
3.4L ENGINE
3.5L & 3.9L ENGINES
5.3L ENGINE
3.4L Engine
- Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
- Release the drive belt tension by lifting or rotating the drive belt tensioner with a breaker bar.
- Remove the drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley and position the drive belt aside.
- Slowly release the tension from the drive belt tensioner and remove the breaker bar.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the lower air deflector.
- Remove the right side engine splash shield.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose bolt.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor.
- Remove and discard the sealing washers.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor.
- Remove the lower and upper A/C compressor mounting bolts.
NOTEReplacement compressors are shipped without PAG oil. - If replacing the compressor, balance the compressor oil.
- Remove the A/C compressor.
To install:
NOTE
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the compressor drain plug, tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
- Install the A/C compressor.
Upper bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).Lower bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm). - Install the new sealing washers.
- Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to the A/C compressor.
- Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the compressor and tighten to 24 ft. lbs. (33 Nm).
- Connect the electrical connector to the A/C compressor.
- Install the lower air deflector.
- Install the right side engine splash shield.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Release the drive belt tension by lifting or rotating the drive belt tensioner with a breaker bar.
- Install the drive belt around the A/C compressor pulley.
NOTEMake sure the drive belt is aligned into the proper grooves of all pulleys. - Slowly release the tension from the drive belt tensioner and remove the breaker bar.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
3.5L & 3.9L Engines
- Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the right engine splash shield.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor and cap hose nut.
- Remove and discard sealing washers.
- Remove the A/C compressor bolts.
- Remove the A/C compressor assembly.
To install:
- Reverse removal procedure.
- Pay attention to the following:
NOTEUse a low viscosity, polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Use of the incorrect oil can result in compressor failure.
When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor. Using J 39400 leak test A/C compressor fittings.Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).Tighten the A/C compressor nut to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).Tighten the A/C compressor hose nut to 13 ft. lbs. (17 Nm).
5.3L Engine
- Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Remove the lower radiator air baffle and deflector.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the A/C compressor.
CAUTIONRemove and discard all sealing washers. - Remove the stud from the A/C compressor.
- Loosen the rear mounting bolt from the A/C compressor.
- Remove the front mounting bolt from the A/C compressor.
- Remove the front mounting nut from the A/C compressor.
- Remove the front A/C compressor mounting stud.
- Install a floor stand under the right front cradle.
- Loosen the right front cradle bolt and lower the cradle.
- Remove the A/C compressor.
NOTEReplacement compressors are shipped with polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil. - If replacing the compressor, balance the compressor oil.
