How To Replace Thermostat on Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator?


The procedure is similar for both ford and Lincoln car models:-----

The details to replace Thermostat are as follows: ----

 Removal & Installation:---
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system to a level below the thermostat.
  3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
  4. Remove the 2 bolts, the thermostat housing and the thermostat. Discard the O-ring seal.
  5. Inspect the mating surfaces. Clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep and silicone gasket remover. Follow the directions on the packaging.
  6. If necessary, install a new thermostat with the spring facing down.
  7. Install a new O-ring seal.
  8. Make sure the thermostat housing is seated evenly by hand tightening the 2 thermostat housing bolts prior to final tightening.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten thermostat housing bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
