The procedure is similar for both ford and Lincoln car models:-----
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
- Partially drain the cooling system to a level below the thermostat.
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
- Remove the 2 bolts, the thermostat housing and the thermostat. Discard the O-ring seal.
- Inspect the mating surfaces. Clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep and silicone gasket remover. Follow the directions on the packaging.
- If necessary, install a new thermostat with the spring facing down.
- Install a new O-ring seal.
- Make sure the thermostat housing is seated evenly by hand tightening the 2 thermostat housing bolts prior to final tightening.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten thermostat housing bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
These details will help.
Thanks.
