The procedure is similar for both ford and Lincoln car models:-----
Heater Core
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Details are as follows:---
Except Expedition EL & Navigator L Models
Specific to:
Ford Expedition 2008-2009
Lincoln Navigator 2008-2009
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
- Recover the refrigerant.
- Drain the engine coolant.
NOTEAllow any residual coolant to drain from the auxiliary heater core after disconnecting the auxiliary heater hose fittings. - Position a suitable drain pan and disconnect the 2 auxiliary heater hose fittings at the floor pan connection.
- Disconnect the 2 auxiliary evaporator line fittings at the floor pan connection. Discard the O-ring seals.
- Remove the 2 floor pan bracket bolts.
- Remove the auxiliary headliner duct pin-type retainer and disconnect the duct.
- Disconnect the auxiliary mode door actuator electrical connector.
- Disconnect the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator electrical connector.
- Disconnect the auxiliary blower motor resistor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the auxiliary blower motor electrical connector and detach the wire harness from the housing.
- Remove the 2 auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing bolts.
- Remove the auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing.
- Release the clip and open the floor pan bracket.
- Remove the heater core tube bracket screw and the heater core tube bracket.
- Remove the 12 evaporator/heater core access cover screws.
- Remove the evaporator/heater core access cover.
- Remove the heater core.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure and note the following:
- Vacuum and recharge A/C system.
- Refill and bleed the cooling system.
- Install new O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
- Tighten the 2 auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing bolts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
Specific to:
Ford Expedition 2008-2009
Lincoln Navigator 2008-2009
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
NOTEIt is not necessary to install the new heater core tubes contained in the heater core service kit unless there is evidence of damage to the heater core tubes. New O-ring seals must be installed any time the heater core tubes are detached from the heater core. - With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
- Drain the engine coolant.
- Remove the RH quarter trim panel.
- Position a suitable drain pan and disconnect the 2 auxiliary heater outlet and inlet line quick disconnect fittings at the floor pan connections to allow any residual coolant to drain from the auxiliary heater core.
- Remove the heater core door screw.
- Remove the 2 auxiliary heater core tube fitting clips.
- Position the auxiliary heater core partially out of the housing.
- Disconnect the auxiliary heater core inlet tube.
- Disconnect the auxiliary heater core outlet tube. Discard the O-ring seals.
- Remove the auxiliary heater core.
NOTEUse only the O-ring seals contained in the auxiliary heater core service kit.
- Verify that the heater core tube fittings are completely seated in the heater core before installing the heater core tube fitting clips.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure and note the following:
- Refill and bleed the cooling system.
