The details are as follows :----
Adjustment
The wheel bearings are sealed units and are not adjustable.
Removal & Installation
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Front wheelBrake hose mounting boltBrake caliperWheel speed sensorSpindle nutBrake rotorOuter tie rod endLower ball jointSteering knuckle - Press the hub out of the wheel bearing.
Splash guardSnapring and press the wheel bearing out of the steering knuckle - If necessary, press the inner bearing race off of the hub.
To install:
NOTE
Use a new ball joint nut, split pin, snapring and spindle nut for assembly.
- Press the bearing into the steering knuckle and install the snapring.
- Install the splash guard.
- Press the hub into the bearing.
- Install or connect the following:
Steering knuckle. Tighten the ball joint nut to 43-51 ft. lbs. (59-69 Nm) and the damper flange bolts to 116 ft. lbs. (157 Nm).Outer tie rod end. Tighten the nut to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).Wheel speed sensor, if equippedBrake caliper and rotorBrake hoseSpindle nut. Tighten the nut to 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm) on 2001-02 models. On 2003-06 models, torque to 210 ft. lbs. (285 Nm).Front wheel - Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
