NOTE
PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19D589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B only should be used as an A/C compressor lubricant.
NOTE
Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
- Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gear selector in NEUTRAL.
- Recover the refrigerant.
- Remove the accessory drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.
- Remove the RH radiator cooling fan.
- Remove the lower radiator air deflector.
- Remove the bolt and detach the compressor manifold and tube assembly and discard the O-ring seals.
- Disconnect the field coil electrical connector.
- Remove the two lower A/C compressor bolts.
- Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube fitting at the suction accumulator and discard the O-ring seals.
- Remove the three bolts and the bracket.
- Remove the two upper A/C compressor bolts and the A/C compressor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Use new O-ring seals. Tighten the compressor mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
- Evacuate, leak test and charge the A/C system.

NOTE

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant.
- Remove the RH and LH cooling fans.
- Loosen the tensioner and remove the drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.
- Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly and discard the O-ring seals.
- Disconnect the compressor field coil electrical connector.
NOTEThe upper LH A/C compressor bolt must be removed with the A/C compressor. - Remove the four A/C compressor mounting bolts and remove the A/C compressor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Use new O-ring seals. Tighten the compressor mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
- Evacuate, leak test and charge the A/C system.
