How to replace Ignition Lock Cylinder on Acura Car Models?

The procedure is as follows :---

Ignition Lock Cylinder

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disable the air bag system.
  2. Remove the lower panel of the dashboard.
  3. Remove the knee bolster.
  4. Remove the steering column upper and lower covers.
  5. Unplug the connectors from the ignition switch.
  6. Remove the steering column mounting nuts.
  7. Lower the steering column.
  8. Center punch the shear bolts.
  9. Use a 3/16" (5mm) drill bit to drill out the heads of the bolts.
  10. Remove the shear bolts, then remove the lock cylinder assembly.
To install:
  1. Without the key in the lock cylinder, insert it into the steering column.
  2. Finger-tighten the new shear bolts.
  3. Insert the key into the new lock cylinder and check for proper switch operation.
  4. Tighten the shear bolts until they snap off.
  5. Align the steering column and tighten the bolts.
  6. Plug the harness into the ignition switch.
  7. Install the steering column covers.
  8. Install the dashboard panel and knee bolster.
  9. Enable the air bag system.
