Timing Belt Cover and Seal Removal on Honda Civic?

Upper Timing Belt Cover/Seal

  1. Note the radio security code and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the valve cover.
  3. Remove the upper timing belt cover.
  4. Remove the seal from the groove in the cover.
To install:
  1. Secure the seal in the cover. It may be helpful to use a semi drying gasket sealant to hold the seal in place.
  2. The remainder of the installation procedure is the reverse of disassembly.
  3. Enter the radio security code.
Lower Timing Belt Cover/Seal
  1. Note the radio security code and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belts.
  3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  4. Remove the lower timing belt cover.
  5. Remove the seal from the groove in the cover.
To install:
  1. Secure the seal in the cover. It may be helpful to use a semi drying gasket sealant to hold the seal in place.
  2. The remainder of the installation procedure is the reverse of disassembly.
  3. Enter the radio security code.
