How to Replace water pump on 2007 Ford Taurus?


The instructions are similar for 2006 and 2007 ford Taurus Car models.


The details to replace water pump is as follows :----

Removal & Installation
3.0L ENGINES:--

3.0L Engines



VIN S Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4. Remove the battery and the battery tray.
  5. Remove the water pump belt.
  6. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  7. Disconnect the heater hose from the bottom of the water pump.
  8. Remove the radiator lower tube bolt.
  9. Remove the radiator upper front tube bolt.
  10. Disconnect the upper radiator hose, the heater hose and the thermostat housing hose.
  11. Remove the radiator bypass hose assembly.
  12. Remove the pin-type retainer, disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector and position the harness aside.
  13. Remove the three bolts, and reposition the water pump to access the remaining hoses.
  14. Loosen the clamps, disconnect the hoses and remove the water pump.
To install:
  1. Connect the hoses to the water pump.
  2. Position the water pump and install the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts in two steps:
    1. Step 1: Tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
    2. Step 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
  3. Install the radiator bypass hose assembly.
  4. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector and attach the pin-type retainer.
  5. Connect the upper radiator hose, the heater hose and thermostat housing hose.
  6. Install the radiator upper front cooling tube bolt.
  7. Install the lower cooling tube bolt.
  8. Connect the heater hose to the bottom of the water pump.
  9. Install the water pump belt.
  10. Install the battery and the battery tray.
  11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  12. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Start the engine and check for leaks.
VIN U, 2 Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine cooling system.
  4. Loosen the water pump pulley.
  5. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  6. Remove the degas bottle.
  7. Remove the alternator.
  8. Remove the bolt and the nut, and position the roll restrictor bracket out of the way.
  9. Remove the bolt and the accessory drive belt tensioner.
  10. Remove the nut, the bolt and the support bracket.
  11. Remove the bolts and the water pump pulley.
  12. Disconnect the water pump inlet hose and the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  13. Remove the bolts and the water pump, and clean the sealing surfaces.
To install:
  1. Install the water pump. Tighten bolts in the sequence illustrated as follows:
    1. Bolts 1-7 to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    2. Bolts 8-12 to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

  2. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector and the water pump inlet hose.
  3. Install the support bracket, the nut and the bolt and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  4. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner and the bolt and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  5. Install the water pump pulley and the bolts and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  6. Install the roll restrictor bracket, the bolt and the nut. Do not tighten at this time.
  7. Install the alternator and the mounting bolt. Do not tighten at this time.
  8. Install the alternator brace, the nut and the bolt. Tighten the bolts as illustrated.

  9. Tighten the alternator lower mounting bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  10. Tighten the roll restrictor bracket bolt and nut. Tighten the bolts as illustrated

  11. Connect the alternator electrical connectors.
  12. Install the accessory drive belt.
  13. Install the degas bottle.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
  15. Fill the engine cooling system.
  16. Start the engine and check for leaks.
