The instructions are similar for 2006 and 2007 ford Taurus Car models.
The details to replace water pump is as follows :----
Removal & Installation
3.0L ENGINES:--
3.0L Engines
VIN S Engine
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly.
- Remove the battery and the battery tray.
- Remove the water pump belt.
- Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
- Disconnect the heater hose from the bottom of the water pump.
- Remove the radiator lower tube bolt.
- Remove the radiator upper front tube bolt.
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose, the heater hose and the thermostat housing hose.
- Remove the radiator bypass hose assembly.
- Remove the pin-type retainer, disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector and position the harness aside.
- Remove the three bolts, and reposition the water pump to access the remaining hoses.
- Loosen the clamps, disconnect the hoses and remove the water pump.
To install:
- Connect the hoses to the water pump.
- Position the water pump and install the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts in two steps:
- Step 1: Tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
- Step 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
- Install the radiator bypass hose assembly.
- Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector and attach the pin-type retainer.
- Connect the upper radiator hose, the heater hose and thermostat housing hose.
- Install the radiator upper front cooling tube bolt.
- Install the lower cooling tube bolt.
- Connect the heater hose to the bottom of the water pump.
- Install the water pump belt.
- Install the battery and the battery tray.
- Install the air cleaner assembly.
- Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the engine cooling system.
- Loosen the water pump pulley.
- Remove the accessory drive belt.
- Remove the degas bottle.
- Remove the alternator.
- Remove the bolt and the nut, and position the roll restrictor bracket out of the way.
- Remove the bolt and the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Remove the nut, the bolt and the support bracket.
- Remove the bolts and the water pump pulley.
- Disconnect the water pump inlet hose and the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts and the water pump, and clean the sealing surfaces.
To install:
- Install the water pump. Tighten bolts in the sequence illustrated as follows:
- Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector and the water pump inlet hose.
- Install the support bracket, the nut and the bolt and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the accessory drive belt tensioner and the bolt and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the water pump pulley and the bolts and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the roll restrictor bracket, the bolt and the nut. Do not tighten at this time.
- Install the alternator and the mounting bolt. Do not tighten at this time.
- Install the alternator brace, the nut and the bolt. Tighten the bolts as illustrated.
- Tighten the alternator lower mounting bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Tighten the roll restrictor bracket bolt and nut. Tighten the bolts as illustrated
- Connect the alternator electrical connectors.
- Install the accessory drive belt.
- Install the degas bottle.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Fill the engine cooling system.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
