Front Drive Axle Tube Bearing Removal?

The details are for Axle Tube Bearing REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
It will work for
Lincoln Aviator, Ford Explorer, Exp Sport, Exp Sport-Trac, Mercury Mountaineer 2000-2005.


Axle Tube Bearing
The Procedure is as follows :---


  1. Before servicing the vehicle, please familiarize yourself with safety procedures.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Right-hand halfshaft
    Right-hand axle shaft
    Axle seal, with a slide hammer
    Axle tube bearing, with a slide hammer
  3. Clean the bearing and seal surfaces of any foreign debris.
To install:
  1. Use an axle bearing replacer and the handle to replace the right axle tube bearing.
  2. Check the bearing depth as shown.
  3. Use an axle seal replacer and the handle to replace the axle tube seal.
    NOTE
    Care should be taken not to damage the axle seal surface.

  4. Install the axle shaft.
  5. Refill the front drive axle to proper level.
  6. Install the right halfshaft.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Right-hand halfshaft
    Right-hand axle shaft
    Axle seal, with a slide hammer
    Axle tube bearing, with a slide hammer
  3. Clean the bearing and seal surfaces of any foreign debris.
To install:
  1. Use an axle bearing replacer and the handle to replace the RH axle tube bearing.
  2. Check the bearing depth as shown.
  3. Use an axle seal replacer and the handle to replace the axle tube seal.
    NOTE
    Care should be taken not to damage the axle seal surface.

  4. Install the axle shaft.
  5. Refill the front drive axle to proper level using SAE 80W90.
  6. Install the RH halfshaft.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the -Precautions- section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Right-hand halfshaft
    Right-hand axle shaft
    Axle seal, with a slide hammer
    Axle tube bearing, with a slide hammer
  3. Clean the bearing and seal surfaces of any foreign debris.
To install:
  1. Use an axle bearing replacer and the handle to replace the right axle tube bearing.
  2. Check the bearing depth as shown.
  3. Use an axle seal replacer and the handle to replace the axle tube seal.
    NOTE
    Care should be taken not to damage the axle seal surface.

  4. Install the axle shaft.
  5. Refill the front drive axle to proper level.
  6. Install the right halfshaft.
