tail lights wont come on?

I have a 1996 oldsmobile cutlass supreme sl and my turn signals left and right only work when i kinds hold the turn signal stick on the BRIGHTS position and my two tail lights wont come on unless.
My turn signal only works when moved to lane change position... doesn't work in turn position.
it was faulty turn signal switch.I replaced it and the turn signals started working.
