Just get an HDMI cable, and plug the correct end into each side. They're only like 10 bucks and make sure that you're TV is compatible.
Does your laptop have an S-Video output port?
Does your TV have an S-Video input port?
Do you have an S-Video cable that connects the "output" to the "input" ?
Have you configured the TV to "listen" to the "input" from the S-Video port, instead of the usual "cable" port?
