Summary: Vehicle description: sport utility vehicles. The nuts used to attach the master cylinder to the hydroboost bolts were of the metric type rather than the required english type.
Consequence: A loose master cylinder condition can occur, causing longer than normal brake pedal travel during brake pedal applications.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the master cylinder-to-hydroboost mounting bolts and nuts.
Notes: Owner notification began april 6, 1999. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact am general at 1-734-523-8000. Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
