Throttle Cable Recall on Dodge Durango

Chrysler Recall Issue

Vehicle Got Rusted:

2004 Chryser Dodge Durango SLT.

  • Rust at -passenger corner of rear tailgate door in about 6 inches almost gone and rust above license plate.
  • Drivers side rear panel below gas cap 4 inch area rusted through.
  • Spots quarter sized on hood surface rust. I just bought the car used at auction; I am a dealer.
After adding fuel injector cleaner to full tank of gas and went on highway WOT. The throttle stuck at WOT and when I put it in neutral the engine over-revved and was about to blow.
I had to stomp on brakes for all I was worth and apply emergency brake to come to a stop and shut truck off. All 4 brakes were smoking hot so I imagine I warped rotors.

Factory recall for 2004 throttler cable. I hope the dealer fixes that for free. I'm going to call Chrysler.

Troubleshooting Solution For This Problem:

Recall Issue:
There was a recall on the throttle cables on some vehicles, recall D02. If this vehicle was covered under the recall and it has not yet been performed then they'll be able to replace the cable for free.

Cool Temperature Issue:
Are you in an area where the temperatures are still below freezing? The recall was for water ingestion into the throttle cable which would cause the water to freeze inside the cable and it could then stick. If the cable was frozen when it stuck then the event would be considered recall related and there is a chance that Chrysler could get involved in a brake repair if one is needed. The dealer would have to contact the corporation and get them involved, Chrysler would be ones to make any decision regarding that.

Going To Chrysler Dealership:

Chrysler may participate in repairing the rust if it is deemed that it was caused by an issue with the paint itself. Again the corporation is who deals with all paint issues and makes those decisions. Ask them to look at the paint when you bring it to the dealer, they can determine by looking at it whether it may fit the criteria for possible coverage. If they think it may be covered then they can start the approval process.

This Details Will Help.
Thanks.

Chrysler 300 Aftermarket Radio Issue

Chrysler 300 Radio Problem

Car radio is one of the good entertainment source in the car,if it stops working getting it repaired becomes necessary.

Airbag Light Goes On And OFF After Replacing Radio

Aftermarket Radio installing Issue

After installing an after market radio on 2006 Chrysler 300. Now the airbag light goes on and off. If I change back to the factory radio the air bag light stays off.

Solution: A wiring Issue Or Non-Compatible Radio Unit:

There are few possibilities to be checked:

  • First make sure you got exact aftermarket radio, which is compatible for your car model.
  • If this for sure only happens with the aftermarket radio in place then most likely you have a wiring issue.
  • The factory radio is on the CAN B communication bus to allow communication between it and other modules.
  • If anything from the replacement radio is connected to the bus wires then it will take the bus down and could turn the airbag light on.
  • If the wires are being pinched when the radio is in place and are shorting to ground it will also do it.

Things To Try:

The first thing I would do is remove the radio and find the white and white/orange wires that are next to each other in the original connector. Make sure these wires are not connected to anything.

Many-a-times several of the pins in the connector get bent; including the pins connecting the white and white/orange wires. Just check and straighten out the pins and all will get good.

This details wil help.
Thanks.

Chrysler Cirrus:Distributor Shot Due To Engine Oil Overfilled?

Bad Effects Of Engine Oil Overfilled

Always fill engine oil as per mentioned in owners manual of the vehicle, don;t overfill it.
It will cause serious engine failure issues.

Vehicle was overfilled and driven few miles and after that 1998 Chrysler will not start at all.Local mechanic inspected the system and replied, its issue with distributor and needs to be replaced.

Now what model of distributor is required?

EXPERTS ADVISE:

As per car model and brand there is  one distributor available according to the factory parts catalog.
And its easily available. Any parts store should be able to cross reference  and look up the correct aftermarket distributor for it.

As per my auto garage repair experience for years. There are two different distributors used on the 2.5 engine but only one is available for your car. As per my knowledge 2.5L engine is a Mitsubishi built engine that Chrysler purchased for use in these cars. There was also a two door coupe version on the Sebring and Avenger that used the 2.5 and this car was completely built by Mitsubishi. The Mitsubishi-built two door cars with a 2.5 did use a different distributor.

So please make sure you get order correct distributor for your vehicle.Get it confirmed with the auto parts store. If the distributor that the parts store provides come wrong then I believe they either sent one for the Mitsubishi built car instead of your Chrysler built car, or they may have sent one for the wrong model year. The distributor that fits your car fits only the 1998-2000 model year 2.5.

Also as per my knowledge distributors were definitely a problem on these engines and it could very well be the issue. Some times new brand distributor also comes bad,I've seen some bad aftermarket distributors right out of the box, so it's definitely possible that it could still be the issue and the first one was bad. Aftermarket electrical parts do sometimes have issues, but a new distributor through a Chrysler dealer for your car runs right at $1,200 and that's pretty hard to swallow.

NOW, because you have already mentioned that problem is distributor, i gave details regarding distributor,But for the type of problem which you received there are many other possibilities too.

Also get it confirmed with your local mechanic that he's actually diagnosing the problem correctly and confirming the distributor is bad before replacing it. There are other things that can cause lack of spark also, including the crank sensor, powertrain control module, ASD relay or wiring issues, and even a jumped or broken timing belt.

So get this possibilities also checked.

This will help.
Thanks.
