How to replace Speed Sensor on Dodge Ram

Rear Differential speed sensor replacing on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi

The procedure is as follows:----

Its not very difficult, with basic tools required.

First remove the nut that holds the parking brake cables to the speed sensor.
Then pull the cables off the sensor.
Now unplug it, and remove the bolt/stud that holds the sensor down into the differential.
Then grab the sensor with pliers and twist it. If you pull straight up or try to pry it out you can break it off in the housing. Pull it up while twisting it back and forth, along with some penetrating oil and you'll be fine.

Door Will Not Latch Close

Try turning the latch mechanism by hand before closing the door.
Inspect the latch visually for any break or damaged.
On most of the cars open - close door systems latch/hatch are used.

If the Latch looks stiff and very dried up,then try spraying it with few oil drops to make the latch movement free.

If the latch looks very dull and loose then either its time to replace the latch or else its fitting assembly needs to be inspected and realigned.

On some car models the latch moves automatically and get open/close and on some car models its controlled by spring assembly.Inspect that assembly.

UNDERSTAND THE SIMPLE THEORY OF VEHICLES DOOR LATCH:----

Latch contains locking device.
These allows user to lock the latch.
On opposite side of the latch there is a part called striker.
The latch rests there on striker when the door is closed.
The latch is held in the assembly by a part called clasp.
So when door is closed, the latch is locked,at that time its held by clasp and latch rests on striker.

Now when you open the door, clasp will release the latch in open position and striker will open the door.

So all these latch, clasp, striker, their moving assembly needs properly inspected to confirm the problem.

Also make sure that nothing is blocking the latch or its internal support components from its movement.
Sometimes a piece of cloth or dirt/dust gets collected or stuck-up there and these causes the problem.

The latch has to move in and out.The latch is like a clip,it should hold and release when you close and open the door.

if the latch is not giving any movement while you open or close the door then it has to be replaced.

If the door is locked and not getting opened, due to stuck up latch, then you have to manually disengage  the latch.
The latch moves up to close and down to open.
You can try these move the latch up by hand to close and then pull handel manually to open the latch.

Dont slam the door hard,it will damage the door as well as latch assembly.

Also inspect the door hinge. If the hinge is loose,it will not let the door reach its closing limit. Also if hinge is got bent or damaged, then it can cause such problems. In that case view the door hinge. If its damaged then replace the worn hinge. Or else its quite possible that you have likely bent or broken the latch mechanism from continual slamming of the door to close it. Try using a screwdriver to push in on the latch and see if it will click in place. The pull the door handle and see if it will release. You could have bent or moved the part attached to the car body. Every time the door hits the latch it likely disturbed its original location. You may need to adjust the striker back to its original position. Check for signs that the striker moved by looking for missing paint.

NOW on automatic Lock latch systems, the door get open and close by solenoid systems. These all procedure is controlled by vehicles inbuilt computer system. These computer system is also called as BCM.Full form of BCM is Body control module.

These door close and open function get operated by Keyfob systems.
Keyfob is a small unit,on which there are two buttons. One to open and one to close.
In the vehicle there is a sensor to detect the keyfob. When the keyfob is pointed towards the vehicle and button on keyfob is pressed the door gets operated.

In the vehicle there is security alarm system. If the door is left open or not got closed of if somebody else(thief) tries to harshly open the door by pulling it hard, then door alarm gets activated. In these cases, just check all the vehicle doors,if any of them is not closed or locked properly, the alarm indicator helps to let you know.

On car doors, other then glovebox doors. There is activation rod. These rod movement, lets the latch move back and forth to open and close. If the car door is not getting open, then door panel has to be disassembled from inside,by entering from other-side of car and once the door panel is open, you can view inside the activation rod.Release the rod manually to latch move freely to open the door.

To remove the outer door handel, inside door handel is no need to be removed. Both are fitted sperately to vehicles door.

REPLACING THE DOOR LATCH

If the door latch is checked and inspected to be faulty, then replacing door latch is not that very difficult.
Its just fitted with few screws. You need basic screw drivers set to open the screws and remove the faulty latch out.
The door panel has to be off, once the panel is off,you can view the inside of panel. The latch is held by clips, remove the clips and remove the screws securing the latch and slide the old latch out, reverse the procedure to install new latch.

On automatic operate system, there are few wires and connectors also to be disconnected to remove the latch.

See below the latch assembly diagram, for how it basically looks:----

These details will help you.

Chevy Silverado Rear Speed Sensor

Speed Sensor issue on Chevy silverado

The speed sensor needs to be replaced

The speed sensor is located on the tail-shaft of the transmission [tailshaft of the transfer case if it is a 4wd]just unplug the wiring harness, remove the bolt that holds it in place, then pull it out.Its hard to pull it out,and the sensor material gets very delicate,it can break,so do it carefully.

The details are as follows :---

first remove the caliper then the caliper bracket(less weight and more room when separated but not necessary to separate).
After that you have to remove the rotor-you will see the sensor sticking with the wire on it-remove the Allen bolts and ROTATE the sensor to break it free in the knuckle then CAREFULLY slide it up(they do break)

To remove it properly, without damaging here is the procedure for safe sensor removal:----
You will have to rotate it and push on the disc cover a little but the sensor will come out with out disconnecting it or breaking it if your patient-then uses a flat file and plane the knuckle where the mounting surface of the sensor clean and flat-use cotton to plug the hole first to keep metal from getting into the hub bearing.
Before re-installing new sensor, Dont forget to clean the rust from the sensor and the rotor to hub mounting area so you don't wind up with a brake vibration from excessive rotor run out.

If you have diagnostic scanner to confirm the fault its better. The scanner makes it simple,it confirm if sensor is faulty or not.

If you have a scanner you can watch the speed sensor literally drop out-
Actually the process is as follows:--- When the magnetic field of the sensor to the regulator ring changes as the sensor is lift by the rust and can not generate a voltage at lower speeds.
To check with out a scanner is hard to do since spinning a tire by hand the same speed is hard to do when trying to compare voltages at a given rpm.
Important Note:--- Before you get to deep into it- check to make sure the hub bearings are not loose and worn .

These details will help.
Thanks,

Mitsubishi Montero Fail Safe Issues

Truck Starts fine, but will not go more then 30 KMph

Customers Issue:-----

My Mitsubishi starts fine, but will not run more then 30 Kmph,is it a fail safe issue. Its 2003 Montero Truck.
The acceleration is very poor.

Garage Experts Reply:---

I dont think so,as per your problem,i suggest you to get the vehicles Engine computer module checked, such problems are very common on these Mitsubishi vehicles.

As per your vehicle model, there are two fail safe systems on these trucks.
One is transmission fail safe issue. The transmission fail safe provides Reverse and 3rd gear only (and some harsh engagement as electronics are shut down), but that doesn't fit your issue.
The other fail safe issue is electronic throttle control. On late 2003 year model vehicles went to an electronic throttle  just snaps the throttle shut to about 5% opening and you lose all throttle response.... again it doesn't fit your issue..... plus any throttle body anomaly should set a fault without fail.
So if in your case,is there any check engine light coming up on dash.Is there anmy warning indicator light showing on dash.If yes,get the engine module scanned and see what codes are set in module. As per that you can continue further.

Customers Reply:---

What if the Warning light comes after sometime.

Garage Expert:---

Suppose if its a skewed ECT reading lets say 40F low, then you could have over fueling that under load just floods it too much....this is something that could take a long time to set a engine light as well, though I would expect some idle quality issues especially on cold start were that the case.

You can try these,

Unhook those pre-cats. These cats are notorious for failure, and that would certainly give you poor acceleration and very low top end. As per level of performance received, you should probably even be able to tell from putting your hand behind the exhaust to feel for flow.

Customers Reply:----

I will try these troubleshooting,Thanks.

Mitsubishi Car Key Not getting detected after replacing ECM

KEYS NOT GETTING DETECTED ON VEHICLE

Customers Reply:---

It was Faulty ECM,so we replaced it,but after replacing the ECM( computer Module) the Vehicle keys are not getting detected.
The vehicle is 2003 Mitsubishi Montero.

Garage Expert says:----

Actually its not a problem at all.Its a fact, that once you replace computer module in your vehicle, the keys will not get detected.
To make the new/used 2003 computer work the key needs to be programmed to the computer which will get detected by the computer to the immobilizer. This is easily possible at vehicles dealership.... there are some locksmiths that can do this, but more often than not they end up fooling with it and not doing anything (it requires internal information from a dealer to complete).
Some dealer charge for doing these and some dont.

Thanks.

2003 Mitsubishi ECU Reflashing

ECU Re-flashing For Mitsubishi

I would like to share these Mitsubishi ECU Reflashing Garage Experience

A customer visited to our garage regarding Flashing Engine Control Unit/Module.

Customer Vehicle Details:---

Make: Mitsubishi,Model: Montero,Year: 2003

Garage Expert:---

The actual flashing is not required when new ECU is connected to the vehicle,in case of Mitsubishi montero. The ECU is matched to the immobilizer ecu as soon as you program the keys to the new ecu. That is all there is to it on a 2003.

Customers Reply:----
Is it necessary to take the vehicle to the dealer. Also will old working ECU compatible for Mitsubishi montero will work or else i will have to buy new ECU.

Garage Expert:----

Its easy,it can be done manually with proper tools.

There is no need to take the vehicle to the dealer to program up the ecu to the key immobilizer.
Please read and understand these simple detail.

You can use old working ECU work on your vehicle. But to make the replacement computer work in a 2003 all you need to do is hook up the scan tool, access the immobilizer ecu, register the key(s), and the engine ECU and immobilizer ecu will be paired and the engine will run. There is nothing else to it, and no reason to buy a new ECU.Another old but working ECU will support your vehicle.Just make sure its compatible to your vehicle.

But for older car models of same Mitsubishi montero models, these case is completely different. On older models like before year 2000 you could not install a used ECU unless you had the matching used immobilizer ecu, as that year the two were permanently married and would never work mismatched afterward. This changed mid-year 2001 however and does not affect your vehicle.
So in your case, where the vehicle is 2003 Mitsubishi the problem is easy to solve.

Customers Reply:----

Can i remove the ECU from my vehicle and bring it to your garage to get it reprogrammed.

Garage Expert:-----
No my dear customer, its not possible. The ECU has to be in the vehicle and then only it can be reprogrammed.

The ecu must be in the vehicle to register the key, no exceptions there.
You can get spare second hand, used ECU online on Ebay and other Auto parts site.It approximately costs about $150 to $200 utmost.

Customers Reply:--

Why my ECU failed. If i replace the faulty ECU,is it possible that my new ECU will fail soon.Is there a problem in my car causing these ECU failure.

Garage Expert:---

Its very rare.I'll tell you that ECU failures are pretty rare on these vehicle brand models, and when they do occur it is normally either one coil dropping out entirely or no power up at all.

Customers Reply:---

Thanks......
